I have a lot of information pertaining to my gr,gr,grandfather, John Adam
Scheller but can not find out where his home town is in "The Kingdom of Bavaria.
Facts I have proof of:
* Born 4/28/1814 (year confirmed by census reports in 1860 and 1870)
* Died 12/26/1888 in New York City (confirmed by death certificate)
* Adam was Lutheran
* Buried in Lutheran Cemetery, Middle Village, NY (confirmed by death
certificate and
Cemetery records)
* Became a citizen 10/21/1852 in New York (confirmed by NARA)
* Married Dorothea Eva Goring (confirmed by Family Search IGI) - date
unknown
Dorothea was born 11/10/1825 and died 12/12/1875 (Per death certificate)
* Had 5 children (one died early)
* Census information:
1860: Adam Schiller - 44 (?); Doretta (?) 34; Adam 11; Amelia 9;
Henry 6; Margaret
2/12; Adam and Doretta's listed place of birth was
Bavaria
Adam was a cabinet maker. (This was my
gr,gr,grandfather)
1870: Adam Scheller - 56; Dorothy 45; Adam 21; Henry 16; Minnie 9
Adam and Dorothy's listed place of birth was Bavaria
Adam was a cabinet maker.
1880: Nothing found for Adam - Dorothea passed away in 1875. Son
George Adam
Sheller listed with his family. Census shows birth
place for both Adam and
Dorothea to be "Lippe". (George Adam was my great
grandfather)
* Dorothea Eva Goring emigrated from "Deutschland" on the Ship Howard.
Arrival date was
May 28, 1847, Her age was 22. Port of Departure was Hamburg, Germany.
Port of Arrival
was New York. On the same ship was a passenger named Adam Schille (?) -
I do not
know if he is related. This info came from the New York, 1820-1850
Passenger and
Immigration Lists.
