Several of you gave me good suggestions on my earlier request for how to find information on these names. In fact, I was able to carry the Hebenbrock side back several generations. However, I was not so lucky on the Hoops side except to get a full name from the marriage record. Hoops is a very, very common name in Hannover. Can anyone recommend a good researcher in the Soltau area who could check the parish records? I have not been able to find any of the smaller towns in FHC microfilms. It seems there are not many microfilms of the area in Hannover that I need, at least not like in Pomerania.

there are online-family books of the Soltau area. Go to

and you will have a lot of Hoops. This online page is in German, if you have a special question about it or some part to be translated, please ask again.
Some other cities of that area you will find in: http://www.online-ofb.de,
especially: Visselhoevede, Neuenkirchen, Südheide, and of course Soltau again.
If you have names of towns or villages, I could help you to indentify. ( My mother's ancestors are from the Soltau area ).
