I have Holz relatives who were Lutheran.
I believe that they were from Neuwedel, Germany, which is now Poland, or from
around Berlin. If they were from Neuwedel, as I suspect, they probably fled
from there when the Russians moved in. They could have gone to Mecklenberg
or elsewhere. I still cannot find any records in Neuwedel because most were
destroyed. My relatives came to Rochester, New York. I'll keep your e-mail
in case I find a connection. I am told that Holz was not a common name in
the area.
