Holtz from Sembzin or Kambs bei Roebel

Hello Listers,

Sorry, I cannot write in German. I have been on this list for several years searching for my Holtz family. Apparently no one has a Holtz in their genealogy. Since I can read little German I look for surnames.

If there is no response to this message I believe I must unsubscribe.

If anyone can make a connection to any of these people I would appreciate hearing from you. If you cannot write in English I will get your message translated. All of the people mentioned here came to the USA and lived in Michigan.

Hi Phillis,
I am just a starter myself, and not even close to the area you are researching; but I hate that you give up because no one responds to your request.
On the chance that you may be bored by the suggestion, ... but have you tried the telephonbook of the area ??
in Google just enter "telefonbuch mecklenburg" (with quotationmarks!) , it is the first item on the return list, and then HOLTZ and SEMBZIN. I tried it and there were 54 hits.
You write that since years you have had no reply. Now, it just may be that none of those people participates in a genealogy list, or reads well enough English, or , ... just speculating.
I leave you to your own devices, whether you want to give them a cold call (little chance), or to spend the time amd money on letters.
Best of luck
Erich Schieber from AUSTRIA

I don't know where you have your current information from, but the church records of Sietow, which seems to be the parish that contains Sembzin, are available for rental from the Mormons (at least in the USA), on films 69606 and 69607. Ditto for Kambs bei Röbel, film 69236, earlier records (in nearby Melz) on film 69366. See Explore FamilySearch Catalog of Resources — FamilySearch.org for details.
I hope this helps.
