Hello list.....I am trying to locate area my
GGGfather came from. Have a
record showing birthplace as Holte,
Hannover, Germany. Just went to
Expedia for map......there are three Holtes
in different areas of Hannover.
Could some kind soul explain this !!!
I know my GGGmother sailed from Bremen. Do not know about GGGfather.
She came to US at a later date to marry
GGGfather.
Her birthplace is listed as Prise-Minen,
Westphalia. Would this be in Holte area?
I know these are strange questions....but,
I am really puzzled! Would appreciate
any information. And I do thank you for
your time.

That would have been Preußisch Minden.

Not at all strange but if you would like answers you need to help out by asking
questions with the facts you have.
Holte is outside of Osnabrück near Bissendorf. Actually it is a part of the larger

The church records have been transcribed by the Arbeitsgruppe für
Familienforschung Osnabrück: http://www.osfa.de/
The society is working on producing an English and more complete version of these
pages. The pages for Osnabrück seem to have disappeared from
www.genealogy.net
The sources for both the Kirchspiel Holte and Bissendorf at the Lowersaxon State
Archive in Osnabrück have been catalogued and printed by the community of
Bissendorf in 1989 under ISBN 3-9801676-1-5.
