thankyou for the information on the ships list. i checked it out and it is a
possibility that this could be the holle i have been looking for. i will
check the landsberg area for more info.

     If you are familiar with the LDS website, there are more than one
Landsberg listed with records available. You probably need to do more
research to be sure that you have the right birthplace, but you may be able
to order LDS microfilm to help your search.

Obviously, Frederich can be part of a larger christening name and that is
the name he commonly used. The spelling could have changed as well. In that
website (above) there is the name Engel listed as part of a woman's name.
I'm not familiar with that--I thought your Mariette Engel could have been a
surname from her mother or something. Maybe there is a woman's name of
Engel?
     Were your people Lutheran or Catholic? Where in Ohio were they? The
LDS has the 1880 census online and I tried to find them or a child of theirs
(which would indicate a birthplace of his/her parents.) I couldn't connect
anything. I have German Catholic people who migrated to Cincinnati from
Hannover and may have a clue as to finding a marriage there.
