Hello from Canada!
My grandfather, FREDERICK WILHELM VIKTOR FRANZ HOFFMANN, born in February 1859 apparently came from a wealthy aristocratic family. His mother was CLARA WILM. His father was HERMANN EDMOND TASSILO HOFFMANN, an ambassador to England from Prussia in the 1800's. I would like to make any connection to the family. Grandfather also had a brother WERNER WILHELM HOFFMANN who also came to Canada in 1880's. The Ambassador had married twice, with a total of 17 children. It is thought that FRANZ was born in Berlin, but all we know is that his childhood was spent on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Does anyone have ideas how I can find out where this family was? My cousin has a photo album with pictures of monuments and sculptures and some buildings prior to 1885. Could someone direct me to a site perhaps where some of these might be found? There is a photo of a building with a sculpture of 4 horsemen on top - believe in Berlin. I only read/write English.
Thank you,
