ps: the name of Catherine rosina also appears in the census of St Louis, Mo..
would the book also name the ship they come over on? i have checked all the
ships that brought immigrants to the USA in 1856 and haven't found them yet.
What port would have been near then for the trip?
again thanks

I'm sorry, the book have not any notice about the ship.
The next port is Bremen. For this time she ships brought the immigrants mainly from Bremen to New Orleans.
You should also check the year 1857 and the passenger quarterly lists of New Orleans.

I followed this because you and I have had contact through the St. Louis
list (Nonnenkamps) and, by the way, "you do have luck"! Nice work Werner.
There is a strong chance that he emigrated through Le Havre, France and
possibly even Antwerp or Amsterdam during that time. This would have avoided
the Prussian police and having necessary papers being shown at the Hannover
or Bremen ports. Unfortunately, no records were kept from the port at Havre.
I'd suggest using the "Germans to America" reference books in order to find
manifest information. More than likely landed in New Orleans or NYC.
