[HL] Father John H Timphaus

Hello,

I´m searching for Informations about John H Timphaus who arrives on the
ship Ohio in Baltimore at the 27. of Sept. in the year 1869!

He arrives with I think his 2years younger brother F.A. Timphaus! These
informations I got from Werner Honkomp and his immigration list!

Furhter I know that the birth date of J H was the 02.August 1843 and his
death was on the 20th july 1902! He was a priest in Wathena, KS!

On F A I have only one information. I think he can be the man who
organized
the Pittsburgh Catholic Congregation in Tipton, KS in 1875!

Can anyone help me?

Regards

Jan Timphaus

NACHRICHT--------------------------------------

Hi Jan; go to the following website:

http://www.archkck.org/Chancery/chancery.asp#Archive

That is the headquarters for the diocese where Wathena is located. In the middle of the page is an email address to inquire about Rev Timphaus. He is indeed buried in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Wathena, Kansas. The diocesan archives should have information on his time there served as a priest.

Another possible option is to contact St. Joseph Parish, in Wathena, Kansas. The phone number is 785-989-4818. The mailing address is:

St. Joseph Parish
102 S. 7th
PO Box 159
Wathena, Ks 66090

The 1900 Census for Wathena City, Washington Township, Doniphan County, Kansas lists him as 56 years old, single, Pries, b. Aug 1843, Germany, parents born Germany. In his household is Margaret Cadney, housekeeper, and 3 teaching sisters named Sister, Ermine, Sister Ursula, Sister Regina. This indicates they had a Catholic school. I think they probably, like most parishes, would have a history written of their parish, and maybe even have a picture of him. Good luck!
