Hi John,
I was going to write to you Thursday night to suggest that the Henry Peters who was born in Mulsum could indeed be your ancestor, however my plans were changed when I gave assistance to some new genealogy researchers whom were visiting my local LDS Family History Center for the first time. There really is no firm proof in the Mulsum Ortssippenbuch records that the Hinrich Peters that headed family #5097 is the Hinrich Peters who was born in family #5088 on 8 Aug 1871. The marriage date is not listed in the record, which almost certainly means that the marriage did not take place in Mulsum. It is possible that the person who put the Ortssippenbuch
The name Peters is very common in the region between Bremervörde and Stade and there is a good chance that your Henry Peters came from that region -- a number of years ago the genealogy column in German Life magazine discussed a Peters family who was originally from Bremervörde. Even though the Peters name is common, it would be highly unlikely that there was a second Henry/Hinrich Peters that was born in the region on the exact same day as your ancestor -- it is more likely that your ancestor was the Hinrich Peters born in Hohenmoor who emigrated to the U.S. in about 1888 and the Hinrich Peters who married Gesche Tiedemann in 1902 and later lived in Hohenmoor was a different Hinrich Peters.
Many people from this area also settled in Minnesota in the late 1800s. I was able to connect with a Buck family from Hohenmoor that settled in Red Wing/Goodhue county -- the Bucks were members of my mother's Buck family from Hude in the parish of Oldendorf but I was also related to the family through my father's Bardenhagen ancestors from the Oerel and Oldendorf parishes and my mother's Lemmermann ancestors from the parish of Bargstedt. I also have a 6th-cousin who works for the same company as me and in the same building here in Cincinnati whose had ancestors who settled in Goodhue county from the parish of Bargstedt.
I can connect you with a person living in Stade, Germany who may be willing to do some research for you in neighboring parishes for a modest fee (she used to charge about 10 Euro per hour but her rates have probably gone up). You may contact me at my personal email fredbuck@sprynet.com to get the contact information.
