Herbrum, in Hanover

Hello List,

Could anyone tell me if there was and/or is a city or town named Herbrum, in the province of Hanover, Germany in 1846. I recently found info that Joseph Thien, an ancestor immigrated from here but cannot find Herbrum anywhere I have looked. I am new at this so if anyone can tell me if it exists and where to look for info, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

YES. There is such a place. It is 3.2 KM from Aschendorf which in turn is near
Papenburg. The place had a pop. of 465 around the turn of the century (1900).
Today it lies next to the Dortmund-Ems canal. It is but a mile or two from the border
with the Netherlands and liesin very wet ground which is drained by many ditches
and waterways. It used to belong to the Regierungsbezirk Osnabrück but today is
part of Papenburg.
