Marilyn,
second try - since the list automatically stops large postings for
folks like me who forgot to delete the rest of the postings when
replying!
This was an interesting challenge. For sure you are on the right list.
Bobbi had the right suggestion - the problem is that the Hamburg records
are not indexed yet by ancestry.com The good news is Hamburg did
registers by last name by time periods.
You can find the Hamburg passenger list of your ancestor by going
to the Hamburg Passenger List on ancestry and scrolling down beneath
the search feature to the list of years. Click on 1890-1899. Then click
on Direkt Band 079 (Mai 1892) Then go to image 70 of 239 and you
will see their listing near the bottom on the right page.
Here you will see clearly Manse, Oldbg (Oldenburg). Locally, it is
written/spelled as "Mansie" and is in the district of Westerstede.
You will find its location at google maps - look for "mansie, westerstede"
The following website will be of great interest to you:
http://www.genealogy.net/vereine/OGF/
Click on the English flag for English. This is the website of the
Oldenburg Society of Family Research. Scroll down the left side
until you find "Auswanderer/Emigrants" and click on "Familiennamen"
then click on "S" and look for Stulken.
You will find info on the Stulken family and specifically the
boy, Herman Stulken, who emigrated in 1892 with his mother,
Lena nee Thien Stulken, widow of Johnn Dietrich Stulken.
You might also click on "Orte" instead of "familiennamen" and
see who else emigrated from Mansie as they may also have
connections with your family.
According to the mother's (Lena) emigration record, she had
two older sons who had already emigrated to Missouri.
Hope this helps,

Dear Listers,
I'm having trouble reading something on a passenger list, and I'm
wondering if someone who also subscribes to Ancestry.com would take a look
for me.
The record is for "Lenc St?lken"
Arrival date: 23 May 1892 [New York]
Birth year: about 1843
Port of departure: Hamburg
Ship name: Rhaetia
Lenc [actually, Lena] St?lken is at line 450. She is 49, from Prussia,
and her destination is Missouri. The next item?the starting place?I can't
read. It looks like "Manse," except that the first letter doesn't look
like the beginning letter of "Missouri."
I appreciate any help you can give.
