I am seeking information on my greatgrandfather and
greatgrandmother - According to church records in Port
Washington, Wisconsin, USA - my great uncle Max
(perhaps Wilhelm Max) Goldberg was born in Gersdorf,
Sachsen, August 29, 1889 - he was the son of Wilhelm
and Pauline Goldberg - Wilhelm may have been Ernst
Wilhelm Goldberg. Pauline was a Landgraf - daughter
of Hermann Landgraf and (according to Pauline's death
certificate) Christiana Kastal. Church records here
say Pauline was born in Allenburg, Sachsen. I am not
sure that Wilhelm was born a Goldberg as he was
adopted when he was about 5 or 6 years of age. His
death certificate states that his parents were
Christian Goldberg and Anna Neumann. Hermann
Landgraf's death certificate lists his parents as C.
Landgraf and Christiana Landgraf. The Landgraf family
were staunch Lutherans I am not sure of the Goldberg
family - they may have been Jewish. Wilhelm was born
Sept 7, 1855, Pauline was born Apr 9, 1862, Hermann
Landgraf was born Dec 12, 1834 in Sachsen. It is my
belief that Wilhelm, Pauline and their children Max,
Alfred, Arno, Melanie and perhaps another were asked
to leave Germany due to political reasons - it had
something to do with unions - they came to the States
in 1891. The Landgraf's Hermann and Christina came in
1892/3. I am looking for anything and everything I
can find on these people and where they came from and
who their parents were - or help in whom to contact -
Thank you for you help, Stacey Henry
