Hallo Gerhard:

I found your name listed on the internet, as a Harbig researcher, also
researching in Ebersdorf.

I am hoping to expand on my husband's grandmother, Clara Harbig's,
family. Clara was born in the USA, but her older brother and sisters
were born in Germany. Her father Joseph Harbig was born (1843) in
Lichtenwalde, Habelswerdt, Schlesien, Preussen. He served in the
military there, and we have his discharge paper. He was later found in
Stetin, where he married (1869) Henriette Arndt. Two children were born
there. Next he was found in Bradenburg where another child was born.
There was another child born to this couple in Germany, but I have not
found that record yet. The family sailed from Hamburg to America in
1875, and settled at Elizabeth Minnesota.

Going back, Joseph Harbig was the son of Johann (b.1808)and Franziska
(b.1808) (Ruecker) Harbig. (I have had more success with the Ruecker
line, than the Harbig line.) I was able to find a marriage (1805) for
Johann (son of Johannes Harbig) and Franziska Ruecker. I also found a
marriage for Johannes Harbig (son of Joseph Harbig ,colonist) and
Veronica Herden (widow of Joseph Herden), but have not found his
baptism.

If you think this Harbig family could be connected to yours, I would
enjoy hearing from you. Unfortunately, I do not read or write German.
But I have been able to correspond using the on-line translation sites.
I have also been doing German research for a number of years, and can
usually pick out surnames from the church records, except some of the
old German script records, which I do have a problem with.

Hoping to hear from you, Eileen
