Hanoverian soldier

Dear Michael and Terry,
I am most interested in your information as I have a David HAULTAUFDERHYDE born circa 1767 Soldier/Musician in Gardners Buildings(Barracks) in London and can't link it up with anywhere except Hannover as I have relatives called HIDEY which they may have changed their name to as they talked of the long name above which is spelt differently for every child of Davids!
David had two sons: Thomas Alexander b.1814 and David Thomas b.1810, both down as Haultaufderheyde who were also soldiers.
Michael I thought HATTORF could also be a breakaway name from Haltaufderhyde. If you break up HA*T = HALT or HAULT and TORF = DORF meaning village.
Terry, I live in the north of England and would much appreciate it if you could look my names up in The Hannoverian Regiment. Any chance?
Johanna
