Mary, when anyone sends a message to the Hannover group, it is sent to every member. That means that you will receive a lot of messages that don't pertain to your family.
But perhaps you can help some other person, and it may also happen that someone will send a message that contains information pertaining to your family.
That's how these groups work.
Wishing you all the best in your searching!

looking for information on the families of WOLLE, RIECKMANN, STEHR (STEER), SCHULENBERG, BUNGE, etc., from Ebstorf and surrounding area.
Hi Mary,
Most of the Hannover List e-mails I get don't relate to me. If I've been gone and they have stacked up, I just delete the whole bunch and recognize that maybe I'm missing something.
when I have time, I click down through all of them, and sometimes they have information on a web site that I can find useful. So that one I put in a folder. Then when I have time to work with genealogy a bit, I explore those web sites and see what they contain. It's fascinating how my ggrandfather can have lived in Mnkeboe for 13 years before leaving for the states in 1856, and not left a trace! I wish they compiled city directories for the Engerhafe region in the mid-1800's! And the Ortstippenbcher (is that the plural?) were compiled from the same church records that I search in vain, so they don't list him either!
Happy hunting! Maybe someday something will turn up!

I too subscribe to many lists that seldom does a message relate to my
research. What I did certainly helps ... I use Outlook (Outlook Express has
the same) and I create a 'message rule' to look for specific words
(villages, surnames, etc.) and when the rule finds a match, I have it moved
to a special mail folder. Then I can go through the messages that do have a
word that I am interested in looking at further. The other messages I move
to a special folder based on [HN] in the subject in case I want to go
through them .. or just delete them.
