Hello. My third great grandfather's name was Henrich Bauermeister. He was
in the Kings German Legion then in the Royal West India Rangers. He came to
Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada in 1819 from St. Kitts when the RWIR
regiment was disbanded.
I understand that he joined the 4th Batallion of the KGL in 1804, and joined
the RWIR in 1808 as a commuted man. How was he commuted from the KGL?
His discharge papers from the RWIR state that he came from Norgatton in
Hannover. I can find no reference to this place.
Any advice on furthering my research?
Thanks.
