Hamilton

Hello Jan
Let me give you a little hope and some books to look for. The "Deutsches
Geschlechterbuch" come in well over 200 volumes and going through the index
of just LAST NAMES, no first names given, the name Hamilton appears in many
volumes. Is George among them? I don't know. However here are the volumes
Hamilton appears in:
Volumes
23,41,42,60,61,73,109,117****,128,134,170,171,179,185,195,202,205,209.
V-177 has a number of pages for Hamilton.
Hamilton - Greve 74
Hamilton of Hageby 13
Hamilton of Raploch and Stavehouse 117
Hamilton of Sorn and Sanqhuar 117
Guenter in Michigan

What is the Geschlechterbuch?? Could you look up Gügelmeyer and similiar
spellings? We can't locate them anywhere before 1782. Then they were in
Emmeln (parish Haren) and later Kathen (parish Lathen). The name is unusual
enough that there won't be many of them -- so last names alone would help.
Thanks!
Barbara Stewart
