The following British regiments were in Hanover in 1805 & 1806. Does
anyone know where, exactly, in Hanover they were garrisoned?
( Perhaps I could search the Kirchenbuch of each of these places to find
birth records of my ancestor George HAMILTON who was born in Hanover c
1840 and who married in Adelaide (Australia) on January 14 1865.)
I visited the Catholic Archives in Hildesheim and I now know he was not
registered in the Catholic church. I have also been informed by a kind
hannover-l member that he was not in Hannover city itself. I have also
been informed that it is not possible to search each village and town in
the former Kingdom of Hanover.
