Dear list members,
Happy New Year! Glückliches Neues Jahr!
I am seeking the marriage date and place for Ferdinand Hermann HACHEZ [lived
1818-1880] and his wife Louise [lived abt 1825-abt 1869]. They married about
1846 or 1847 before their son Ferdinand Hachez was born 10 April 1848 in
Germany. I would also like to find her maiden name and vital records, if
possible.
The elder Ferdinand was born into the well known HACHEZ family of Bremen. His
father was Johann Ferdinand Dominikus Hachez and his mother was Hermine
Constanze Detmers. The family is now best known for the chocolate company
founded by a relative in 1890. See in English:
Also, the HACHEZ family story is online in
German: http://www-user.uni-bremen.de/~bremhist/FamHachez.html

NOTE: The chart in the above article gives the wrong year [1812] for the birth
of Ferdinand Hermann HACHEZ. I have seen his 1818 birth record on microfilm.
Ferdinand, Louise and son Ferdinand came to New Holstein, Wisconsin, in 1854.
Researchers in Germany have helped me find the family group sheet and father's
will that confirms the place of Ferdinand Hermann HACHEZ in the Bremen family.
Ship's passenger logs, his naturalization document and census records in America
provide further confirmation.
Genealogists have looked for the marriage of Ferdinand and Louise in Bremen in
civil registration records with no success. FamilySearch does not have their
marriage in an IGI or the new database, although other members of the Hachez
family in Bremen are in FamilySearch. Ancestry.com provides no marriage record,
even using World Deluxe.
I would welcome fresh ideas on how to continue my search for this marriage. I
have learned much about my HACHEZ ancestors, but would like to solve this
brickwall.
Thank you.
Barbara
