Gut Adlig-Reetz in Brandenburg

My ancestor Karl ZEUGE, born 1806 NeuMadewitz, married circa 1835 Dorothea
KISTNER. He was a shepherd at Gut Adlig Reetz, which was a farm owned by
nobility. He probably did not own his own sheep. It is in Brandenburg,
formerly East Germany, near Frankfurt on the Oder River, on the west side of
the river. It is east of Bad Freienwalde and northeast of Wriezen, and near
NeuCustrinchen. There is Altreetz and Neureetz, also Gut Adlig Reetz across
the road from NeuCustrinchen. Adlig means nobility. Is there any way to
find out which nobility owned it and whether any records exist showing his
name as being employed there? I know due to floods, wars, etc. very few
records exist. I did obtain a few records from protestant church record
books in NeuCustrinchen. The pastor there said the NeuMadewitz church
records are in Wriezen but the Wriezen church said they do not have them.
Thanks for any comments. Zelda. rvdubel@email.msn.com

Some area west of the Oder belonged to Kreis (county) Knigsberg in the
Neumark (= East-Brandenburg), Alt Reetz and Adlig Reetz are in this
area. The classification (kind of census) of the Neumark of 1718/19 only
mentions Alt Reetz - the estate is owned by the family von Sack, who
held a lot more estates in that area (cf.
News & E-Mail bei t-online.de | Politik, Sport, Unterhaltung & Ratgeber - it's German, but
you can compare a list of villages and a list of owners with
corresponding numbers, as well as a list of names of inhabitants).

If I understood correctly Neu-Reetz consists of Adlig Reetz and
Kniglich (Royal) Reetz, they belonged to church Neukstrinchen, while
Alt Reetz belonged to Wriezen (the Alt Reetz church books 1798-1874 are
in Wriezen).

The pastor there said the NeuMadewitz church
records are in Wriezen but the Wriezen church said they do not have them.

I do not know about Neumdewitz.

In the Neumark-L data base I have one Zeuge from Bernickow (but perhaps
you know the entry from the IGI). As far as I know you're also looking
for Schulz, Hartmann and Rothenburg - while the first two are very
common (with lots in my data base), there's only two Rothenburgs:
