GRONAU, LUTTER Search

Hello, I am new to the list and very sorry that I do not read or write German. I am trying to find information for my husband's family. As far back as I know Rosine Ernestine GRONAU, b. Aug, 1875 (I believe to be a daughter of unknown GLAUS) married Fritz Frederich LUTTER, b. Nov, 1875. They had a son Fritz, and a daughter MARTHA ERNESTINA LUTTER, b. Nov.1901, married Edward HAUF in 1921, in WISCHENEN: a daughter THERESE ROSINE LUTTER, b.Aug, 1906, married Ernest ALBRECHT in MEDENAU, in 1926: and a daughter GERTRUD ELIZABETH LUTTER, b.Feb. 1909, married Fritz PAULINE, and she died in SCHWENNINGEN. Daughters Martha and Theresa immigrated to the USA in 1926, and 1930.
The place listed for births is WISCHENEN, SAARLAND, E. PRUSSIA. Any help would be greatly appreciated as to how to find the way to go back farther into their family ancestry.
Thanks for listening;

Hi Dolly,

I believe you're talking about Samland (which was East Prussia). Saarland is
an area on Germanys western border (south west of Frankfurt).
In 1905 Wischehnen was in county Fischhausen.
prot. church: Medenau (of 104 inhabitants all were prot. in 1905)
cath. church: -
Civil Ofc.: Medenau
Police Ofc.: Medenau

The mormons have films of the Medenau church books.
Try www.familysearch.org -> "Library" -> "Family History Library Catalog" ->
"Place Search", type in "Medenau" at "Place" and click "Search".

Kind regards

Thomas (Drews)

Thanks to those that answered about the LUTTERS. I think I must have that Saarland wrong (info from a relative). Will have to look into Samland, instead. The Wischehnen, and Fischhausen, and Medenau all sound familiar. I believe I looked at those films once but maybe I will have to take another look. Thanks Thomas Drews for that information. I looked into family search library and saw that there is just one film from 1676-1884, for Medenau. A little early for the birth and marriages of the ones that I know of. Do you know of any later dates? Would the Church records of the Evangellesche Church of Ostpreussen be of any help, as I think the place was Medenau? Also thanks to Maren Khan for letting me know that Schwenningen is in Baden Wuerttemberg. Gertrude must have moved there with her husband. Will have to look at some maps and see where these places are. Many thanks to all. Any more information will be greatly appreciated.
