I am looking for information on a town in Germany by the name of Gr Wanzer which is Southeast of Hamburg along the Elbe River to the West from Wittenberge.
My WILLE family stated they were from this town on the Hamburg Manifest leaving May 4, 1872 on the Ship Vandalia.
What is the name of the Lutheran Church in this area?
I would appreciate any information anyone can supply me.
Thank you,
Marlene

Hi Marlene,
it's just Wanzer, not Gr. Wanzer. There is a Klein Wanzer close to it as well. There is a homepage
for Wanzer:
www.wanzer.de (but only in German)
Wanzer has its own Lutheran Church.

Thomas,
Thank you so much for this information on Wanzer. I really appreicate this. This my last great grandparent I need to find information on. It is a great grandmother, Elisabeth WILLE, and not much information was handed down about her family except for her maiden name and possibly her father's first name, Heinrich.
Your information is a great help. Again, thank you.
