Would you know of a map that would date from about 1835 of Hanover Germany?

I am looking for a place called Leadwich Dres Hanover, which I am told is in
Dresden or near, along the Elbe River in Northwest Germany.

A gggrandparent was born in this place according to her obit in 1835.

Thanks

Pat

Dresden is on the eastern side of Germany, not too far from Czech. and central.

Thank you , Susan! I have been able to zoom in on the present day Dresden
but, wanted an old map to locate Leadwich Dres…I was told that this was
referred to as an area of Dresden in Hanover…not sure but, along the Elbe
River in Northwest Germany near or close to Saxony??? Haven't been able to
locate a map that old on line.
Pat

Dres. is an abbreviation used for Dresden. Dresden is on the eastern side of Germany, near Czech.
Could it say Ledwich des Hannover?

Susan, in an obit for a gggrandmother of mine ...it stated Leadwich Dres
...this of course could be the wrong spelling...I have been trying for
sometime to locate this area.

Hallo Pat,

its very confusing what you have been told about these locations.
At first: Dresden is the capital of the state "Sachsen"(saxony). The river Elbe flows through this town and then northward to Hamburg. But it NEVER flows to the northwest of Germany - not today and not in 1830! Northwest-Germany belongs to the state of "Niedersachsen"(Lower Saxony), in 1830 parts of this area belonged to the Kingdom of Hannover.
So I think you have to decide which information might be the right one: Area of Dresden in "Mitteldeutschland" OR Northwest-Germany. Both together doesn`t fit - an old map will show you the same as a new one.
The name "Leadwich" is definitly not german. Have you only heard this name or did you read it ? It sounds a little bit like "Leipzig", another city in Saxony, but not near the Elbe.

MfG Susanne

Susanne,

Thanks so much for the response.

The spelling Leadwich Dres was listed in Margaretha Schroeder Dedeke's obit
and on her death certificate.

Listed were her parents George Schroeder and Hamke Bush.

I don't know about the spelling ...but much was probably lost in
translation.

Everything in the paperwork that I find list's Hanover as the place they
came from...Fred Dedeke as well.

I suppose , I will have to continue looking for something until ...I locate
the area in question.

Thanks again!

Pat
