Goettsch family

I would love to know more about my family --- the earliest known ancestor to come to America was Han Goettsche and wife Bertha. They were born in 1803 & 1804 respectively and came the U.S.A. in 1867. They died very shortly thereafter in Carroll County, Iowa. I think they were born in Holstein, Borsbeck Schonberg Germany. Can you help? I would be happy to share information from this side of the ocean.

Hi Sharon

The name Gttsche is represented with about 860 names in the German
telephone directory. www.dastelefonbuch.de/ To narrow down the search
use the postal code, Zip code, Postleitzahl beginning with 24... You may
have to write all persons within that area. Maybe some body in this
Newsgroup could phone the Gttsches living in Kiel which is just 16 ks' or
10 miles to the southeast of Barsbeck.

Schnberg is located at 10 22 " East and 54 23 North. Borsbeck should
be Barsbek I believe. It is 3.3 k's or just over 2 miles to the northwest
from Schneberg. Exact location is 10 19" East 54 23 North You may use
Kartenmeister.com to calculate the distance

Hope this helps you along.
