Hi Marlene,
thank you for your help with the Espey family!
There is no page for emigrants from Hannover like our page for Oldenburg. But the state archive of Hannover has many informations about emigrants published on http://aidaonline.niedersachsen.de/. The passenger lists from Bremen / Bremerhaven you can find under www.passagierlisten.de. But you can find there only a handful lists for the time until 1920. The other lists were destroyed. Also you can try the Hannover-L for your research in the Hannover region. If you write me the names of your ancestor and their age I can look for you at the pages above.
Best regards,

Hi Gunter,
Thank you for offering to check on my family on those sites. I will copy
the information I have below. I tried looking on the Ellis Island site for
my two Great Uncles who went to America but so far I haven't been able to
find them and do not know for certain when and how they left Germany.
Their names are:
Johann Friedrich Carl DANIEL (known as Carl DANIEL) born 23 Apr 1880,
Ronnebeck, Kreis Blumenthal, but he and his family/parents were from
Bederkesa. I believe he went to New York around 1899 but I haven't been
able to find him. He was known as 'Charles' in America. Carl DANIEL did
not marry and did not return to Germany.
Gustav Franz Martin DANIEL was born 24 June 1882 in Bederkesa. I believe he
went to New York around 1913. He was known as Chris in America. Gustav was
married in Bederkesa on 8 Oct 1909 to Marie Elisabeth Heidtmann. The couple
had two children Margaretha Franziska DANIEL born 26 Feb 1911 at Bederkesa
and Fanny Frieda Mathilde DANIEL born 20 Feb 1912. It is said Gustav was
forced to leave Germany by his father who did not like the way Gustav was
conducting his business, but sadly Gustav was unable to save enough money to
return to his family firstly because of the war and then conditions
afterwards. He died of pneumonia in New York on 8 May 1927.
My grandfather Ernst Wilhelm Heinrich DANIEL arrived in Melbourne, Australia
on 11 Nov 1926 travelling from London and (we think) Rotterdam on the "SS
Baradine".
My grandmother Anne Catherine Doedore Sophia DANIEL (geb BLICKWEDEL) born 19
May 1889 in Lauenstein Germany (but family were from Leer) arrived with
three children in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 28 August 1929 on the
"Largs Bay". I believe they travelled via Holland to London and then by
train to Southampton before embarking on the ship to Australia. Her
children were Johann Friedrich Carl DANIEL (known as 'Carl') born 27 Jan
1916 in Leer, Germany; Liselotte DANIEL born 19 Jun 1917 in Bederkesa and
Ernst DANIEL (my father) born 24 Oct 1918.
Gunter, I have had an email back from my Espey relatives and I have been
going through old emails. I will find you as much information as I can for
the Oldenburg Auswanderer site.
Best Wishes
Marlene
