Gode Family

Hello Marlene and Werner,

I think that now it's clear that Alma was born in Oldenburg. Therefore I took her with husband and son on our page. Could you, Marlene, please give me your informations about the couple Espey/Gode and their son?

Best regards,

Gunter

Hi Gunter,

I have received a message back from my US relatives to say that will get
back to me with the information about their Espey ancestors - I will then
forward this information to you.

Is there a similar website for me to send the information about the
immigration of my father, his siblings and his parents, who you mention were
all born in the Kingdom of Hannover (information sent in a previous email)?
Their departure from Germany to their destination was via Holland and
England and so I don't believe they would be on the normal passenger lists.
Is their information the type of data that would go into the collection at
Bremerhaven for instance?

I would also like to be able to find out when and on what ship my
grandfather's brothers went to America when they departed Germany, one
around 1899 and the other 1913. I am thinking they probably left from
Bremerhaven since they were living in Bederkesa.

Kind Regards

Marlene

Hello Marlene,
Ellisisland listed two times a Alma Gode:

http://www.ellisisland.org/search/matchMore.asp?LNM=GODE&PLNM=GODE&first_kind=1&kind=exact&offset=0&dwpdone=1

Maybe yours?
Werner Honkomp

Thank you Werner,

I have checked both Alma Gode's out. They could be my Great Aunt travelling
to Germany both times since she immigrated as it is listing that she is a US
citizen. However I am not able to find when she first immigrated to the US.
She was married in 1881 in Texas and her husband immigrated (the first time)
in 1873. The Ellis Island site seems to deal with entries into America from
1892 to 1924, which is too late for Alma's first and second
trips/immigrations.

I have an email drafted with information for Gunter for the Auswanderer site
but am awaiting information about the first immigration of Alma from US
relatives.

Kind Regards

Marlene

Marlene,

Try Castle Garden for ealier immigration records than Ellis Island.

Mary

Thank you Mary, I will do that.

Kind Regards

Marlene
