Hi Marlene,
thank you for your informations!
We can't take your Daniel family for our database because the emigrating people were born in the former Kingdom of Hannover and not in Oldenburg.
The Gustav Adolph Gerdes we have in our database. But we have a source from our state archive that he emigrated in 1889 after the death of his parents. Our problem is that we are still working on the church records of Oldenburg. So I have no informations about Gustavs aunt and her husband. Therefore I sent a copy of this email to Mr. Ahlers who have some informations from the church records of Oldenburg.
Best regards,
Gunter
Hi Gunter,
I think your source that Gustav Adolph Gerdes immigrated in 1889 after the
death of his parents will be correct. This is not my branch of the family
and now you say the date is much later for Gustav Gerdes, I remember reading
previously that his Aunt Alma came back to Germany for a while and then went
back to America (Texas) taking her nephew with her. There were some very
old letters between sisters Alma (formerly Gode) and my great grandmother
Fransiska (formerly Gode) that enabled us to put the pieces together and
make connections between the branches of the family. I'll check with Alma's
US family and my very old emails and get back to you. I took the above
information from an email saying Gustav Adolph Gerdes came to America with
his grandmother and I then found Alma and her husband's immigration.
Kind Regards
Marlene
