John, my great grandmother, GESINA MARIA GEISEN, b. 1825 in
Lengerich-Bauerschaft (near Hannover) was in St. Louis in the late 1800s
Records there always showed her as Mary Gesina GEISE.
On some records, her brother was shown as Bernard Henry Geise.
It was only after I started researching in Hannover, Germany did I learn the
correct spelling of her name. She remarried in 1860s and moved to Quincy,
IL where she died as MRS. MARIA BERTKE.
