There you can find a lot of Heß, Hess, Hesse addresses.
Hello Werner,
a little mistake: Frankenberg is not located in Westphalia (Westfalen) but in Hessen (in former times prussian province Hessen-Nassau).
Who is from there surprised at the lot of Hesse and so on at this place?
Good night

Hi Betty - Werner too:
I don't know if this area fits - but if not mistaken, parts of Westphalia
and Hannover have been commonly held by one or the other depending on wars,
political intrigues, etc? My example is Gesmold in Melle where my ancestors
came from.
Betty - have you joined the St. Louis list? There is also a German St. Louis
list.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. Yes, I joined the German-St. Louis List. The Hesses did not live very long in St. Louis. Henry died in 1851 and his widow Elizabeth Kreher Hess married Emerich Kreher in St. Clair County, Illinois in the fall of 1852. I guess that is why there is so little information on them.
Thanks. Betty in St. Louis, Missouri

Gary, you are right. The political situation was former a bit confuse.
I checked old maps, it shows, Frankenberg-Haubern is located in Hessen, my mistake.
But at the French time 1806-1813 was the Grand Duchy Hessen also a part of the Kingdom of Westphalen.
Since 1815 Electorate Hessen, 1866 province Hessen and province Hannover a part of the Kingdom of Prussia.
You can say, Frankenberg-Haubern is located in Hessen and this was a part of Westphalia and Prussia.
