Germans to America

If anyone has books/cds/documents that can provide me some leads about my
ggrandfather, William Henry Feld, born June 22, 1855, in Frieberg/Hanover
area. Immigrated to America in 1865. Lived first in Illinois USA, then
later
moved to Chanute, Kansas USA. He died in December 1933 in Kansas. Was
married to Mary Catherine Rensing, from Illinois.
He told us he came to America alone, when he was 9 years old, and that he
had no parents.

Any help will be appreciated.

Greetings Mr. Feld,

Germans to America does list a Feld party grom Hannover to Illinois with a
Heinrich:

vessel COLUMBUS out of Bremen, arr. New York city 02 November 1865

FELD Gerhard Heinrich, 52 male, farmer
FELD Maria, 42 female
FELD Gerhard Heinrich, 7 male, child

but the only place/s like Frieberg in "Hannover" are Freyburg between the rivers
Elbe and Weser and Friedeburg, parish Reepsholt, Ostfriesland
you can check on Friedeburg easily as the parish family book has been published
in 1982 by Ostfrieslands Ortssippenbuecher vol. 14 in three volumes, editors
were L. Janssen, H. R. Manger and Erhard Schulte

Sincere Xmas and New Years wishes

from Diepholz, Lower Saxony (was Hannover province until 1934)
