Germans to America Vol 9 Lookup Please

David,

You might check the recently launched Castle Garden site, that should
include the New York arrival in 1855 for which you're searching. The
link is at http://www.castlegarden.org

If you don't get any takers on the Germans to America lookup, ACPL can
do a quick search of a reference source in our collection for $7.50 per
source. This would probably fit into the quick search category. You
can get to the form at
http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/genealogy/QuickSearchRequest.pdf

Hope this helps!

Hello;

I do not have access to a library that holds the Germans to America
books. I am searching for the arrival of two ancestors that traveled
together from Germany to America. Their names were Nikolaus and Dionis
Leppert. A long-dead family historian recorded that the two unmarried
brothers left for America on 13th October 1854 and arrived in New York
in 1855. Nikolaus would have been about 21 or 22 years old and Dionis
about 13 or 14 years old. I believe that the October date was when
they
left their village and not when they sailed from Europe. I don't know
what port they sailed from but their sister came to America some years
later and she sailed from Le Havre. I would speculate that the Leppert
brothers landed in New York in the first quarter of 1855 (January?
February? March? Perhaps as late as April?). I understand that this
period may be contained in Volume 9 of the Germans to America series.
Their spelling of the family name 'Leppert' is fairly consistent with
records that I have seen and I cannot offer any alternate spellings.

Thanks,

David Roepke
