All,

I forgot to mention that one record I have lists John Gerhard's father's
name as John.

Thank you,
Scott

Hello all,

I am trying to trace my wife's relatives from Ohio back to Germany. The

link is a John Gerhard Knagge, born July 21, 1836 somewhere in Germany,
and died March 25, 1912 in Cincinnati, OH. He went alternatively by John
George, or just George, but his Cincinnati marriage record from Nov. 9, 1871
to Anna Christina Voss has his name as John Gerhard.

I found a passenger list for a Gerhard Knagge of the correct age coming

from Bremen in 1865, which shows him born in Oldenburg, and with his last
residence of "Visbech". I think this could be my wife's ancestor.

There are records for several other Knagge's coming from Germany and

settling in Ohio, but nobody else seems to have a Gerhard, or John/Johann
Gerhard, in their trees. If anyone knows where I should look next, I would
appreciate it. (There is an LDS Family History Center nearby, so microfilm is
an option.)

Thank you,

Scott Miller

Hi

I have a KNAGGE in my family tree. He's much older and all I have from this
Johann Herman Knagge is that he married Lampe in 1735 in Visbek (Erlte) and
took her last name - so no more Knagge.

I have looked at the Visbek church books (although many years ago) from LDS
and although I can't remember if I saw KNAGGE from your time frame, it
would a good try.

Good luck,
Annette

Thanks Annette..
I guess a trip to the LDS library is in order.
