Genealogy Politics

I mostly read the list, and enjoy the information I receive from it.
Regarding the political comment at the end of Aldabert's signature, I would
like to comment.

Aldabert genealogy comments and information offer much the list - and he
provides dialogue to the list on a regular basis.

That said, I do find that the political statements he uses after his
signature take away from the good nature and intent of the list.

I am a 19 year veteran of the US military, and have my own political views,
but I don't impress them upon anyone. Whether my Commander-in-Chief is a
Democrat or a Republican, I follow his orders. I may fully agree or totally
disagree with the decisions being made by my civilian leadership, but I
don't feel that a genealogy list is the proper forum to make a statement in
either case.

I know that everyone in America is a lot more sensitized these days,
especially in light of September 11th, and could probably say the same for
most people in the rest of the world. There are many opinions, and many of
them are highly charged...

I think the list should be politically neutral as it pertains to the
present, and the list not used as a platform to make a political statement
(but discussion of past politics/political history as it pertains to
genealogy is fine), and focus on what we're here to discover - family
history.
