Hi Sally,
Hello Wolf - I tried to understand the Site for the surnames
and just don't 'get it'...
Thanks for trying,
Well, yes, everything is in German, of course, but there is not
too much behind what you wouldn't understand.
The German's are just the same excited about ancestry research
as all of you and they want to dig in as deep as possible.
On http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/wiki/Kategorie:Familienname
they just try to find out what the meaning of their surname is.
They also list all known surname variations and famous people
with that name.
I just added another page, trying to find the origins of the surnames,
http://wiki-en.genealogy.net/wiki/Origin_of_surnames
unfortunately, so far it's only in German and I hope someone
will start to do some translating..
And there are also some German books just written on that subject
which will be listed later on..
but I would like to add my names anyway.....
STEINLEIN,
from Neubrandenburg, and my father's name EDEL from
unknown... also
WAGNER from Baden...... if you can guide me it would be
great - thanks,
Sally
