[Genealogy.net-users-en] RE: Hendsch Family in Nassau-Hesse

I am Dave from California. Since 1990, I have been collecting data related to the Hendsch family in Germany . I found a passenger list of the Bark Atlantic, which included my ggrand father Charles August Hensch (sic) Hendsch. He arrived in the Port of New York on May 21, 1848. His past residence was Solingen. a tailor by trade. Judging from his traveling age of 28. I assume his birth date was 1820. I am seeking information regarding the place and date of birth. Being a child in post Napoleonic Germany with family/clan fighting for France, I discovered that numerous Hendsch men were obliged to fight for Napoleon. Two of these clansmen, were with Napoleon from 1798, and traveled with his Africa Corp to Egypt.and the Grand Armee to Russia. Niklaus and August attained the career rank of General and Field Marshal. Their roots were from Puderbach, Nassau-Hesse. Another question surfaces about my forebear, Charles, and his relationship to this clan. I will appreciate feedback.

Hi Dave,

Hendsch in Puderbach exist, may be the family came from Herborn.

Nikolaus Hans Heinrich Hendsch * 17.12.1779 in Puderbach
he got 1837 the "decoration" of the french Ehrenlegion ?? (Orden der
franzosichen Ehrenlegion)
Nicolas Guillaume Henry Hendsch was a officer of high rank in the french
army and he lived still 1861.

Please tell me, what ever you know - I will try to find out more. But I`m
not at home over the weekend.

Greetings
Christine
