[Genealogy.net-users-en] Obituary Translation

Translation Request:

I have a February 1939 newspaper clipping -- the obituary for my Great Grandfather, Emil Ahnert. It is from a Schenectady, New York newspaper, and it is in German.

If someone is willing to translate it, I can send a pdf file. You may contact me either through the list or directly.

  Thanks.

I'll be glad to help, Dave, but I don't know what a pdf file is and therefore don't know whether or not my computer will download it.

Isn't PDF in Adobe?

Hi Dave,

newspaper, and it is in German. If someone is willing to translate
it, I can send a pdf file. You may contact me either through the

I think an obituary is not that long .. so you can also use Transserv.

Therefor you should read
http://wiki-en.genealogy.net/w/index.php?title=Transserv#Handwritten_documents

Its free service and there are volunteers who translate many languages to other languages.

Eric

Hi Dave,

maybe we should go the "other" way around ?

You are talking about pdf and then there are lots of other
"fancy" things like jpg.. tiff.. gedcom... etc..

Just keep in mind, that we are not "youngsters" anymore and
sometimes it's really hard to keep up with all that strange
new modern stuff... :-((

What about signing up to the "Nightschool" ?? Then you should
start your personal page and put that pdf file yourself on
the internet. It could be a lot of fun for yourself and
you could show all our friends how easy it is.

The whole world will see it and once you are through and
satisfied with the translation we just delete it and
are ready to go to the next "battle"..

Have fun and lots of success,

Wolf

pdf = public document format
readable with f.e. acrobat reader
available for f.e. Windows, Mac, Liux, Unix ...
have a look at http://www.adobe.com
select your language and look at support/download ...
