Dee,
I compiled a Keigwin Genealogy and published it in 2001 and asked my
relatives for information. I did not ask for permission to put names, birth,
marriage, divorce or death dates in my book and have had no repercussions. They were
so thankful that I had gone that extra mile and published the genealogy.
Some relatives just gave me names of the children and no birth dates.
Since identity theft is prevalent it would be probably best to only list the
living people who are under 100 years old. I am 77 and wouldn't care if my
birth date was listed but there are some out there who don't even want you to
have any of their information. That is their loss and their descendants loss
as some day there will be a grand child, writing their family history, trying
to locate them and you know the rest of the story.
Identity theft has always been a part of our lives from the beginning and I
think it has been over emphasized. I have had a credit card stolen once and
took care of the matter immediately but I have never had my identity stolen.
I'm sure if someone would do the research, someone probably has, that they
would find that a small percentage of the millions here have not had their
identity stolen.

Hi------sorry if I'm of the wrong site for this question, but have a very
important question that needs answering and don't know where else to post this
message.
Am planning on making family history book and would like to make it up for
selling to the family members.
My question is Do I need permission from the people who's name will be
listed in this family history book ???
All I will be doing is putting their names in a son, daughters,
grandchildren etc
Is their anything illegal about doing this??? besides making the book
inaccurate.
I have had a request from some family members who wish their names left out.
I have had my name put in a family history book and No one asked my
permission including my marriage and children
Thanks for your help
Dee
