Hello friends,
Good NEWS..bad NEWS.. as usual..
Ok, let's get the good news first..
Yesterday we talked about the Geogen website, which shows the geographical
surname distributions in Germany.
http://christoph.stoepel.net/geogen.aspx
Many of you got all excited about it, but then... oh..... it's in German
only and then I got lots of letters asking what that all means...< stöhn>
I contacted Christoph Stoepel, the originator of this and to my amazement
he answered promptly, saying that he had already planned an English
version of it. At the same time he sent me a part of the source code,
which has to be translated.
And now comes the BAD News..
Many of our bilingual members already seem to be in the
"Easter holiday" mood and are not to eager to do any translations.. ![]()
Actually, to get started with, there is not too much involved:
Geogen Deutschland (Onlinedienst) - christoph.stoepel.net that page just has to be translated
into English, of course more to follow later on.
However, it makes no sense, that all of a sudden 10,000 people ( ![]()
are starting to translate... If you like to help us, please let me
know and I also could just assign certain portions of it to you
and send it to you by email..
Since we are already talking about that subject, our monthly
"NEWSLETTER" hasn't been officially announced yet, but needs
translating too:

Any takers...All or just part of it ???
You all have a nice afternoon... wherever you are..
