I just entered my surname in our-wiki (hopefully).
can I also enter my surname in the German wiki? How do I do that? my German is very poor and I haven't tried to translate those pages.

sure. You first check if its maybe already entered there!!

On the left menu you find "Suche". Enter "Egner" and press the "Suche"-button!!
NOT Enter or "Artikel".
You get a result page with
1. Brensbach, OFB (4224 Byte)
50: Eckard; Egner; Ehrhardt; Eidenmüller; Eisenhauer; Eißner
This means, that Egner is not entered on a familypage in wiki-de!
The category for the family names is
http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/wiki/Kategorie:Familienname
Click on "E" and check then the list below.

I took a year of German over 40 years ago when I first went to college. I have had very little chance to use the language since. So--I can remember a very few words (& I mean few). I have added a good German-English dictionary to my "get" list. Also, I have bookmarked an on-line German-English dictionary and will be using it quite a bit.
So I don't think I am ready just yet to tackle the Article about families names on wiki/hilte.

Well, I tried to read and understand the information about starting an article before I opened & read your note below.
I am sorry but I am too tired tonight to follow the URL you gave me (went dancing tonight & did one too many tango's) So tomorrow I will try to follow your directions again & do the necessary corrections.
Ballroom dancing is our favorite hobby since we are retired and we go often.

I made a little link in the first line of the text. You read
"My great grandfather, Bernhard Cornelius, was the third..."
and "Cornelius" is blue or purpur. This is cause I changed the text part like this:
"Bernhard [[Cornelius (surname)|Cornelius]], was the third..."
That is a wiki-link

I tried my hand at it & successfully created a link for the web page I
referenced on my surname page. I might be brave enough now to try to upload
a photo or two. Is there a page with instructions for uploading photos,
too?
