Hi,
I'm searching for my german ancestors. Johann Theodore Besferer was born in Neustad Bayruth between1720 and 1750. He and a brother were was a military doctor. Johann Besferer then stayed in Quebec city and had his family there. He changes his name to Besserer.

Hi Agathe,
sorry but I don`t think that the name was Besferer - it looks like a wrong
interpretion of the old german current script. I think Besserer was always
correct.
In German Current and/or Sutterlin there exists a little round "s" and a
high "s" that looks like a "f"
Visit the Link: Johann-Mathesius-Gymnasium Rochlitz
Either you download the script "Deutsche Current" - or if you only want to
look - see "Deutsche Werkschrift" the word on the left side ist only
"Werkschrift" but you can see a high "s" als well as a "f".
Because of the above you cannot find the name Besferer in Germany - but
there are Besserer.
Bayruth - looks as if it should be "Bayreuth" - Neustad/Bayreuth could be
"Neustadt an der Waldnaab" (between Bayreuth and Weiden - but near Weiden),
that is in Franken and there exists a Franken-list which is bi-lingual and
managed by an American.
Greetings from Bavaria
Christine
