Hallo,
Meine Vorfahren stammen aus Göcklingen und Geinsheim in der Pfalz. Ich
möchte gerne mehr über dieselben erfahren. Ich erforsche diese
familienname:
Geinsheim: Adam, Bauer, Doerin, Eberlei, Gensheimer, Haussin, Nebel
Göcklingen: Bengert, Brauner, Doerrler, Drexler, Gross, Heusser, Hoffmann,
Laeffel, Laut(h), Meich, Roe(h)m, Thillmann, Wild(t)
Mein Deutsch ist sehr arm. Entschuldigen Sie bitte meinen Gebrauch von
Englisch unten.
My great-great grandmother Helena Wild was born in Göcklingen, Pfalz, in
1842 to Valentini Wild and Jacobinae Brauner. The youngest of 11 children,
Helena was christened in the Catholic church on 27 December 1842.
Apparently after moving to Baden, Helena left Germany and on 30 September
1858 boarded the ship Odessa in Havre, France, bound for New Orleans,
Louisiana, USA. After a journey lasting almost two months, the Odessa
arrived in New Orleans on 29 November 1858. On 26 January 1867, Helena
married Conrad Hahn of Cappel, Hesse Cassel. Helena was Conrad¹s second
wife. Conrad¹s first wife was Catherina Adam of Geinsheim, Pfalz.
Catharina died in New Orleans in late 1865, three years after the birth of
their only child Mary Barbara Hahn on 7 December 1862.
Over the years, Helena maintained many ties to her family in Germany. In
about 1870, Helena¹s father Valentini either visited the Hahns or moved in
with them. Ten years later, a Helena Wild (born circa 1860), possibly a
cousin or niece, served as the Hahns¹ servant. On 2 September 1886, Barbara
Hahn married Peter Büchler at St. Henry¹s Catholic Church in New Orleans.
Peter Büchler was the son of Joannis Büchler and Eva Barbara Dumser, both of
whom lived in the vicinity of Eschbach, near Göcklingen.
In about 1888, the Hahns took in Peter Kraft, either as a humanitarian
gesture or as a boarder. Peter was born on 29 August 1866 to Michelis Kraft
and Appoloniae Buckel. The Krafts and the Buckels, like the Wilds and
Büchlers were also from the Göcklingen area. As might be imagined, the
families were also related to one another. Appoloniae Buckel was the
daughter of Johannis Buckel and Margarethea Doerler. Johannis and
Margarethea had five known childrenNikolaus, Joannes Jacobus, Appoloniae,
Joannes Wendelinus, and Udalricus. In about 1856, Nikolaus married
Elisabetha Wild, Helena¹s eldest sister. Am Januar 29 1891, Peter
Kraftpapier verbundene Tochter Margaret Hahn, Konrads und Helena?s.
In 18891890, Conrad Hahn hired Jacobine Buckel. Jacobine was apparently
related to both Helena Wild and Peter Kraft. In about 1856, Elisabetha Wild
(Helena¹s sister) married Nikolai Buckel in Göcklingen. Over the next 12
years the Buckels had at least seven childrenJakobus, Margaretha, Joannes,
Georgius, Laurentius , Fredericus, and Jacobine. Jacobine and several of
her siblings apparently immigrated to New Orleans in the 1880s. Once there,
she eventually went to work for her Aunt Helena and Uncle Conrad.
Jacobine¹s relationship with Peter Kraft is somewhat more tenuous.
Jacobine¹s father Nikolai Buckel was Peter¹s maternal uncle.
Vielen Dank,
Thurston Hahn III
