Gehrels, Edewecht, Hollandgänger

Hello list,

I'm looking for information on the family Gehrels who lived for centuries in Edewecht and especially Osterscheps and Westerscheps. Does anybody of this list have some information? We already have many, but there are still are some missing pieces of information.

I'm also interested in the history of the name. Does anybody of this list know what is the meaning of the name "Gehrels"? And does anybody know about more information on "Hollandgänger" from Edewecht or Oldenburg around 1778?
