Dear Members of the niederschlesien-l@genealogy.net list,
I refer to Message number 21 in the niederschlesien-l@genealogy.net list, which appears to contain a list of birth and marriage records for the surname SCHUBERT with connections to the city of Lissa, a city now known as Leszno in the province of Poznan, Poland.
I was very interested to read this message, because I have a great-great-great-great grandfather, Carl Gottlieb SCHUBERT, who was born in 1730 in Graebel (now Grabla) near Bolkenhain (now Bolkow) in the Principality of Silesia-Schweidnitz (now Province of Wroclaw). This Province of Wroclaw is close to the Province of Pozsnan, and I am hoping to find a connection between my Carl Gottlieb SCHUBERT and someone mentioned in Message number 21. I am looking for church records of the baptism of Carl Gottlieb SCHUBERT and of his brothers and sisters around 1730, so that I can determine his parents names and thus search for their marriage and other records.
I live in Australia and do not speak German. Would it be possible to obtain a translation of the foregoing Message number 21 into English? Some words such as Zeugen, Burger, Schneidereraltester, Tuchmacher, Bruder oder Oheim der Briefzeigerin?) are of special interest to me. Can anyone help me?
With kind regards,
John SCHUBERT
