Should it be assumed there won't be any activity on this List of Rootsweb
any longer?
Nooooo.. How are getting this idea ??
The only mails I am getting now are in conjunction with the New Forum and
questions on signing up over there..
Well, as you know yourself, there are certain times of the year when
people are busy with their families
and are just not in the mood to answer queries from the mailing lists.
You can check that out yourself
when you visit our archives.
If this is the case, I think we should all be informed of this so who
ever
wants to unsubscribe from the Rootsweb List can do so.
This is NOT the case !! Why can't we have both ?? The forum just
supplements the mailing lists..
But there is a major difference between the two.
The mailing lists are only in the English language and mainly just on a
regional basis. Therefore
they are mostly visited by English only speaking subscribers.
The forum covers a much greater area. We already have many bi-lingual
Germans as subscribers.
They are living in Germany, right at the source of the information you
are looking for..
Can you get any closer to the information you want ??
We started a similar idea a few years ago, where subscribers could offer
to help with questions regarding their own home town.. We had quite a
few listing and offers from the USA and Germany, but for some reason it
got lost and should be re-activated again..
And YES I have joined the other Forum.
Thanks for that !!
It's just getting old deleting messages in regards to the "other" forum
when
in fact when I subscribed to this List I did this in good faith to gain
knowledge from it. Which is not the case anymore.
I am sorry about that, but when you start something new you have to run
some "advertising" to introduce your new "product"..
Nice talking to you and I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving,
Wolf
