Hello;
I have been receiving these type of messages for about a week now. Please
note the (From or Mail to) sender address. Why is this so?

This (my) message should be From: ateschler@genealogy.net
The Sender: field is (in your case)
westfalen-l-bounces+leerinj=sympatico.ca@genealogy.net
It should not appear at all, but as you are using Microsoft Outlook you
see this "On behalf of" thing. It's Microsoft's way of interpreting the
meaning of the From: and Sender: field.
The From: field contains the author of the mail, the Sender: field
contains (guess what) the sender, i.e. our mailing list software.
westfalen-l-bounces is the address where undeliverable mesages should go
back to and the additional leerinj=sympatico.ca gives our software a hint
which address actually bounced (in case the user's list address is not the
final address which causes the bounce).
It is a feature of the new mailing list software we use. Nothing serious
and nothing to care about. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this feature
switched on, it adds more load to the mailserver. No problem for one list,
but might get a problem when we move the other genealogy.net lists as
well.
By the way, as there seems to be quite a number of English speaking list
members: The new software is multilingual. You can switch the web
interface individually to your preferred language. It defaults to German
for our list if you prefer English or Dutch you can switch it at (insert
your address at the end)

Arthur.... I am getting a lot of posts with attachments from the list...
and i am not in any digest mode...
if these will continue as part of any of the changes, i will have to leave the lists...
I've noticed those attachments as well and was as alarmed as you are. If
you have a closer look at them, it's always the footer
If this comes without the attachment, I've found the screw to fix that
thing.

Outlook express meldete den Eingang mit "B�roklammer", also attachment
andeutend.

keine Angst ! - W�rmer etc. k�nnen nur mit dem "attachment - B�roklammer"
kommen, wenn man sie dann (die Datei) aufmacht -
man kann sie abspeichern ! in einem neutralen Ordner z.B. "AKTENKOFFER" und
dann mit einem Virenprogramm in dem Ordner separat durchsuchen lassen. ! -
SPAMS - kommen leider �ber die Liste, da sich einige "Leute ?" dort
eingeschlichen haben, die die E-mail Adressen dort suchen und sammeln und an
sogn .SPAM-Mailer verkaufen - die sitzen dann im Ausland !!! - Man kann sich
fast gar nicht wehren ??!
Sollte jedoch eine Mail als "html" d.h. als Bild erscheinen, dann sofort
l�schen !!!
Niemals antworten !!! und auf irgend etwas clicken (!); auch nicht auf die
Zeile:
"wenn du keine mails mehr haben m�chtest . . . . , clicke hier !! - sofort
die Mail l�schen
mit "Hochstelltaste und Entf." oder unter (Menue-Bearbeiten : "Ordner
Gel�schte Objekte leeren" und dann unter Menue-Datei: "ORDNER - >
komprimieren" - dann sind sie weg und beim n�chsten "defrag.exe" wirklich
von der Platte !

Ich habe die Büroklammer aber aus "Schiß" nicht angeklickt.
Das ist grundstzlich die richtige Vorgehensweise. Lieber Vorsicht als
Nachsicht. In diesem Fall wäre nichts passiert, da es sich um ein reines
Textattachment andelte, das nicht ausgeführt werden kann und somit auch
nichts Böses tun kann.
