What about Personal Ancestral File (PAF?)? It's free and downloadable from
the Mormon Church website.

Unless it changed since I checked a few years ago, PAF only works on PC or
on a Mac that is partitioned so you can run Windows as well. The software to
create this was several hundred Canadian Dollars at that time.

yes, it's free, but you get what you pay for. Reunion 8 is far superior, so is Legacy.
