Fuerhardt and Adam families

I am trying to find the Fuerhardt and Adam family of Germany. The
Fuerhardt's were Lutheran missionaries; therefore, I believe they were from
Northern Germany. Mariam (Mary) Fuerhardt, b. abt. 1863, married Ferdinand
Adam, b. 1865 in Germany. They immigrated to Baltimore, Maryland, USA on 27
Nov 1891 aboard the ship Hermann with their two sons, Edward, age 4 and
Bernhard, age 11 months. The passengers listed after them were Caroline
Fuerhardt, age 18and Frieda Fuerhardt, age 14 (probably sisters of Mariam).
I found the naturalization papers for Ferdinand Adam in our local archive
but he lists his country of origin only as Russia. This proved me with
another clue pointing to Northern Germany.

I have seen the name Fuerhardt spelled many different ways -
Feuerhard/Feuerherd/Feurhardt.

If anyone knows anything about where this family came from I would love to
hear from you.

Thanks,

Jeanne Barkley
