Friedrich Fritz Meyer Born February 21,1833 Kasdorf

Hello. I asked this once before and I do not believe I posted this properly. Does anyone have any information on my gggrandfather above? I am writing from Texas where he is buried with his brother, Ernst. Thank you. Just in case, he is Friedrich Meyer born February 21, 1833 in Kasdorf. My family here is Lutheran and I have reason to believe that we were Jewish at one time. By: Charlane Meyer, all rights reserved.

I believe the reason why you have not had a lot of replies is the scacity of info you have put on the message board. Where did you get the data, family lore, or internet research Have you looked yet at Family search, an excellent starting point. Do you have any record of his immigration activity, where did he start from, land in the US, local church records. You may well have done your homework and if so share it with us.. Otherwise it appears that you want the message board listers to do the research.

Hello Charlane,

If the spelling of the place KASDORF in your mail is the correct one, then you are in the wrong list as this village is located in the state of Rhineland Palatinate, between the cities Koblenz and Mainz, far away from the Hannover area.

Christiane Feder

Hello Max. I have been unable to find any information other than www.ancestry.com and findagrave.com and what his headstone says and also the obituary from the newspaper in the township of his death. If I had all of the information that you speak of, I would not be asking respectfully. I am in the United States and do not have much experience with German government. I am quite sure by the actions and customs of my family that even though they were practicing Lutherans that at one time we were Jewish.

Thank you.

I apologize as I have misspelled his name. It is Frederich and not Friedrich.

I have found this before:

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&new=1&MSAV=0&msT=1&gss=angs-c&gsfn=friedrich&gsln=meyer&msbdy=1833&msdpn__ftp=Seguin%2C+Guadalupe%2C+Texas%2C+USA&msdpn=77195&msdpn_PInfo=8-|0|1652393|0|2|3249|46|0|1241|77195|0|&msrpn__ftp=Seguin%2C+Guadalupe%2C+Texas%2C+USA&msrpn=77195&msrpn_PInfo=8-|0|1652393|0|2|3249|46|0|1241|77195|0|&uidh=000&msbdd=21&msbdm=2&pcat=34&h=2559675&recoff=9+10&db=WebSearch-4064&indiv=1

Since I have lost all use of my laptop because the driver appears to be controlled remotely, I have lost my links. I am now unsure of the "Kasdorf" spelling as well.

Thank you for your time.

I have him here:

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=kneupper_kin_1&id=I079665

I have misspelled "Kasdorf". It is "Kaesdorf" instead and for his father Heinrich. My father was adamant about coming from Hannover however.

This is a needle in a haystack. I am not sure where to go from here.

Your time is appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello Charlane, it exists a book about the history of "Käsdorf": Wilhelm
Warnecke, Geschichte unseres Dorfes Kästorf, 1987, hrsg. von der Stadt
Gifhorn. Part of this chronicle id a chronicle of the houses and farms.
There live several "Meyer" in the second half of the 19th century in
Kästorf. If You give me some more information in detail, I `ll search in
this chronicle. Otherwise You have to try to buy or o borrow the book.
Scincerely Wilhelm
