I was finally able to find my great great grandparents in the U.S. census of 1870 living in Linville, Ogle, Illinois. Johan Herman Essman and Beke Margaretha Suhr Essman are living with a Friedrich Essman born about 1810 in Oldenburg. In looking at Johan Herman's information in the Oldenburg database, I don't see a male sibling. Johan was born in Grüppenbühren 18 Nov 1807. Was there a younger brother or cousin Friedrich born about 1810?
